Coming Back Soon!

Hi everyone, I'm still alive! I apologize for seemingly dropping off the face of the planet - I really didn't mean to abruptly stop blogging. In the same week, my laptop at home died and I got a promotion at work meaning I had literally zero access to a computer for personal use anymore. 

For the past few months I've been jotting down tons of post ideas that I can't wait to share. My work load has finally slowed down and I'm planning on relaunching the site early in the new year. I'm pretty sure Santa is bringing me a new laptop for Christmas and I can't wait to get back in the swing of things!

DIY Scarf Hanger

As you can see I didn't get a chance to schedule a show & tell post this week so I have a quick and easy DIY project to share instead. 

First of all let me apologize for the poor quality of these photos. It has become abundantly clear to me that to make this blog the best that it can be I need to invest in a better camera! All I have right now is my iPhone and I am really not happy with the quality of these shots.

Anyway on with the project! I suppose this is really more of a re-purpose than a DIY. I have a weakness for vintage Vera scarfs and have been searching for a way to display them. I got this idea after seeing napkins stored in a similar way on Pintrest. All you need is an old miniature spoon rack.

I picked this rack up at Value Village for $3. I had Dan sand the inside of all the little spoon slots and then hang it on our bedroom wall. Sanding the spoon slots is a little tedious but important so there's no rough spots to snag your scarves.

Then I simple folded my scarfs in half and tucked them into the spoon slots. They are the perfect size to hold the scarves snugly. Here's what the finished project looks like on my wall.

I think I'll probably end up painting the rack white but to Dan painting any sort of wood is sacrilegious (he's a carpenter) so I'll have to do it when he's not around!

The Friday 5: Made in Canada (Part 2)

Barely squeaked this post in today but here it is! Last week's Friday 5 featured my favorite Canadian Etsy sellers. Now this week I present you with five Canadian fashion/lifestyle bloggers I love (in no particular order).

Winnipeg, Manitoba

Erin and Stef are best friends who run the Rhymes With Orange vintage shop in Winnipeg and own an adorable mobile shop they've named Olive. They have an amazing vintage wardrobe and a great eye for vintage treasures.

Vancouver, British Columbia

In the past couple months Jennifer has posted about both Doctor Who and Murphy Brown so obviously it was a no-brainer that I instantly follow her. She hasn't posted anything in a while but hopefully she will again soon!

Jasper, Alberta

I just discovered Nicole's blog last week and absolutely love it. She describes herself as small town reporter making her way around Canada one newspaper at a time. She doesn't like cats though but not everyone's perfect.

Hamilton, ON

Elycia's blog is filled with beautiful photos of her colorful home, quirky wardrobe, and adorable cats. I'm a fairly new reader but was instantly drawn to her unique style.

Toronto, ON

Natasha is the only blogger on the list who doesn't actually live in Canada anymore. She grew up in Toronto and is currently living in Charlottesville, VA with her husband. Her blog is filled with beautiful photography of her daily life and pretty things that inspire her.

Show & Tell w/ Ruzu from Princess Corner

Ruzu is one of the very first supporters of Lollipops & Roses so I'm really happy to have her as the show & tell guest blogger today. She lives in El Salvador and has a great lifestyle blog called Princess Corner. Here's what she has to show us...

Hello everybody, My name is Luzmaría from Princess Corner blog, but you can call me Ruzu. I am very excited to make this guest blog post, is my first time in this category and I was thinking of what can I share with you, and suddenly one of my passions came to mind - Tea, my favorite drink.

This time I want to show you my collection, is not big, but is the begining of a wonderful world, and this blog is a wonderful place to show you this.

1. I found two pieces with this roses print, is from England, the price? Just $3.00

incredible isn´t it? 

2. My first tea set for one person, is so cute, I like a lot the color.

3. This was a present for my parents, a wedding gift, so at the moment it's not mine, but will be, I think. I want to show it because I love this tea set, very classic style, elegant like a fairy tale. 

4. Mad Hatter tea party: I found this cute tea pot at a vintage sale, I was so happy to find an Alice in Wonderland theme, very unique and of course the drawing style is vintage, more perfect than this? No I can´t imagine. 

5. White, clean and nice, this small teacups are perfect for a DIY project, I don´t know yet the style I want to draw, but I will make something nice, I promise. 

6. Another view of the No.3 and a teacup with flowers, this is from Japan, big and with pretty golden lines. 

I hope you enjoyed my small collection, I wish to buy more tea cups or sets, at the moment I am happy with this.

 

Before saying goodbye I want to recomend some teas, Green tea with jazmin, with peach and mint, Sencha green tea, black tea with cinnamon and bubble tea with tapioca. You can make this mix, you just need to buy organic leaves and plants or go to your favorite tea shop, a special place of tea, because is more healthy and good quality than supermarkets .

Weekend Links: The Grand Opening of Honey Bee Graphics

There are not many links this week. It's the Victoria Day long weekend in Canada this weekend and the weather is suppose to be beautiful. I'm not going to be in front of the computer much for the next few days and I don't have another post scheduled till Tuesday (show & tell with Ruzu!).
